Overview

Center Hill School is a Christ-centered parochial school. Students at Center Hill enjoy an excellent academic program that emphasizes Biblical moral principles along with the normal course of studies. Center Hill stresses the importance of parental involvement in a child's education. The school does not take the place of the parent but rather serves to assist the parent in providing the best education possible.

Brief History

Center Hill School was founded in 1968 in the Texas Rio Grande Valley with the student body made up by the two sons of Robert and Grace Turman. In 1969 the family relocated to Searcy, Arkansas to pioneer a new church and brought the school with them. The family settled in the small community of Center Hill just a few miles west of Searcy. In honor of their new hometown, the school was officially named Center Hill School, or CHS.

The old school houseAs the years passed, the school grew, both in students and facilities. The early school in Center Hill occupied rooms in an old camp house and two outbuildings. In the late seventies, the school moved into a renovated two-story garage on Highway 36 in Center Hill. The school remained and prospered in this location for two decades. A chapel was added to the campus in the 1980's providing a place for school functions and daily chapel services and the soybean field was cleared to provide a large playground and ball field. The 1990's saw modular units added to house the kindergarten and elementary classes.

In the fall of 2000, Center Hill School moved into its present facilities in one of the old Morris School buildings. This two-story school building, repaired and remodeled by numerous volunteers, now houses all CHS grade levels, a spacious lunchroom, a computer room, and break rooms. Next door to the school building is the spacious gymnasium and indoor swimming facilities.  Ball fields and tennis courts behind the school round out the facilities for Center Hill School.
